I have always managed to do our family taxes on my own, but am having great difficulty keeping up with the various changes in federal and state income tax rates and regulations. That's why I depend on the tax software form TurboTax. Starting my own home-based business has also added to the stress as I would like to take advantage of all of the available deductions and not end up getting audited for making a stupid mistake.
As I sit and stare at the pile of papers, receipts, and shoebox filled with miscellaneous scraps of paper, I think I am going to have to get busy organizing for this first year of owning a business. Hopefully, with good copies and some instruction from TurboTax, I will be done with this before I know it. I know online tax software updates their tax information every day to stay current with tax laws, so I'm in good hands with TurboTax Online.
