The earned income tax credit is for certain people who work but have low wages. It reduces the amount of taxes that you owe, and it may also give you a refund. You must meet certain requirements to be able to qualify for the earned income tax credit. You must have a social security number, you must have earned the income, you can not be filing as married or filing separately, if you do not have a qualifying child then you must be between the ages of 25 to 65, you must be a US citizen, and you can't file the forms 2555 or 2555-ez. To qualify with a child, the child must be your child, the child must be under 19 years of age, and the child must have lived with you in the United States for more than half of the year. The earned income tax credit is a great tax cut.
